Quaker Wedding Certificates

June 17, 2010

I was completely inspired by this post from Once Wed.   How adorable is that marriage certificate?!

I search, researched and discovered that it is a Quaker marriage certificate. It is a Quaker wedding tradition to have a marriage certificate.  In fact, in a Quaker wedding there is no officiant. Instead, all the wedding guests sign the certificate of marriage. Most of these certificates required 7 – 10 days to complete due to the intricate decoration.

While I’m in full support of an officated wedding, I do think it’s a sweet tradition that could be implemented into a modern day wedding.

Why not hire a calligrapher to make one for you, like Chelsea? Or a snazzy graphic designer will killer penmanship, like Jonna?

Happy Thursday!

Vintage Cake Topper

May 19, 2010

This past weekend Candice (the amazing) and I went thrift store shopping.  While we did some pretty strange things:

We did find some cool things, like some old life magazines, a dress (which I tried to alter and utterly failed at), some awesome shoes for my Dad, and this cute vintage cake topper:

I think it’s absolutely sweet.

Happy Sweet Wednesday!
