D*S Jewlery Storage Idea

February 4, 2010

Did you all happen to catch the D*S DIY yesterday?  I did and I can’t stop thinking about it.  I’m totally inspired and keep thinking of all the other applications for such things.  Check it out:

You can pick yourself off the floor now.  It’s totally easy and cheap and I’m loving it.  And like I said… my head is spinning with ideas.

1.  Instead of a hat rack, how about making some bust of each member of your family.  In a row, mount them on the wall and hang hats, scarves and such on them.

2.  Who says you have to stop at bust?  Why not do a fun animal silhouette like an owl, deer, or an elephant.

3. Do I hear wedding gift?  Make a silhouette of the bride and groom on a smaller scale with a tiny hook for their wedding rings.  The couple can mount them on either side of their bed or in the kitchen so they have a safe place to hang their rings.

So many, many possibilities.

Get inspired!

monograms and silhouettes

March 20, 2009

This post is inspired by one of my dail reads; {Grey} Likes Weddings.  She’s doing a giveaway (that ends Monday) with features amazing letterpress work from {cotton} idea studios; a beautiful store with amazing finds.  I was inspired by the “will you be my bridesmaid?” card with silhouettes of femal busts on it and I’m in love. silhouettes I’ve said it before; how much I love monograms and silhouettes, but I wanted to dedicate a whole post to a few things that make fireworks go off in my head.

Thrift Store Finds

September 18, 2008

Today I had the day off from work today.  Creswell and I headed down to the Redland’s Thrift Store, “H&E.” Ironically, the store is not called H&E, it used to be an H&E but it closed down many years ago.  The store bought the place, but never changed the sign, so we just call it the H&E Thrift Store.

I bought a pair of maroon leather boots, some children’s books for Alicia’s classroom, and some silhouettes in some “not so attractive” frames.  I redid the frames today with believe it or not permanent marker. check it out:

So two weekends ago, I think it was, Creswell and I had a creative-mania-fest. We raided JOANN’S and she bought canvases, paints, and some bird houses. So I totally had this vision of silhouettes of animals and I wanted to paint stripes on my birdhouse. Here are a couple pics of my silhouette series and my birdhouse. I’m pretty happy with how they turned out and I now wish I was having a child so I could hang these is their room. But… not really.
