Two Year Anniversary: RECAP Part III

January 29, 2010

The Final Frontier…

The day of our Anniversary was a peaceful and relaxing day.  We woke up and had breakfast at the hotel and then went for a drive around town.  The air was so crisp and everything was so green.

We stopped a few antique places along the way and found a random photobooth to take pictures in.  We just couldn’t resist.

We relaxed most of the day and then came back to the hotel to get ready for our fancy dinner.  Alex bought me a cute dress from Anthropologie to celebrate and it was ready for a night on the town.

We found an amazing place called Bottega. The chef owns his our vineyard and the food was amazing.  Obviously.

We had a great time enjoying each other’s company, the food, and the fantastic service we got the entire vacation.  The trek home was a long one, but it was fun to sing at the top of our lungs and finally plunge into our bed at home.

Happy Friday, Everyone!

Two Year Anniversary: RECAP Part II

January 28, 2010

Goooooood Thursday Morning.

It’s a sunny, 68 here in Southern California.  Nothing but blue skies, blues skies, shinin’ on me.  I’m your host, Natalee Lopez and I’m here to bring you the second part of our Anniversary trip.  Let’s get started.

We woke up to the sound of the rain in the comfy down sheets of the Renaissance Hotel in San Francisco.  Finally, rolling out of bed we packed up and trekked about town.

We stopped in to a local Starbucks and grabbed some breakfast and enjoyed the local Mom and Pop shops: Old Navy, Urban Outfitters, and Anthropologie.

Then it was definitely time for some grub.  Fresh sushi anyone?

4 rolls and a miso soup later, it was time to walk that sushi off and head back to the hotel to make the rest of our journey.

Got got back in the car and that’s when Alex revealed we would be going to Napa Valley for the rest of our time.  I was so excited, especially while sporting my new scarf from Jonna and my head wrap from Amy and Whitney.

Driving through Napa in the rain is heavenly.  We even caught a rainbow through the storm.

Then we arrived at this amazingly beautiful hotel called the Bardessono.  Alex found it through an awesome site called Jetsetter.  Believe me, for the deal we got, you’re going to want to sign up.

The delightful staff heard it was our anniversary and brought up some champagne and goodies, along with a sweet note.  So thoughtful!

Every morning we had a complimentary breakfast in the clubhouse, which was no continental breakfast mind you!  A continental buffet, with scones and muffins, fresh fruit, yogurt, and orange juice.  Then you can order from their menu.  I got the pancakes with apple butter one day and then an amazing, fancy version of Eggs Benedict over arugula salad the next.  All included with your stay.

Did I mention the French Pressed African Coffee?

And the view?

Most of the days were pretty stormy so we stayed close to the hotel.  There are pools and spas, bike rentals, and a day spa so you can imagine why most wouldn’t travel far.  We stayed in a lot enjoying the fireplace and watching movies.

If you follow me on Facebook, you can see the video I posted about our amazing hotel room here.  I know, right?!

Part III:  Our Anniversary Dinner

Two Year Anniversary: RECAP Part I

January 26, 2010

Okay, okay… you’ve all been asking so here it goes!

As you know Alex and I took a bit of a trip this past weekend to celebrate our wedding anniversary, but my birthday is also really close so on Friday night our Bible Study group had a sweet little treat for me.  Cupcakes, a banner, presents, and my mom made chocolate pudding pie.

On Saturday we woke up early and hiked Mt. Rubidoux with our Bible Study group and got pumped for our 5 hour road trip to Paso.  We went home, cleaned up, packed and were on our way.

I’ve said it before, but Alex and I love road trips so it was such a great Anniversary trip.  We talked the whole way about the past two years and what our dreams and goals are.  It’s such a great feeling to remember why it is that you love you spouse.

We arrived in Paso around 7:30 after a few stops in Bakersfield.  We were trying to find a Starbucks and when I typed it in, I was routed to the United Nations, 1 day and 20 hours away.  I’m not sure what that means, but we’ll discuss Starbucks’ World Domination at a later date.

My Aunt, Uncle, and two of my cousins had a feast prepared for us when we arrived.  Now, I’m not a huge red meat fan (much to the disapproval of my father) but my Uncle Paul’s steak was amazing,  Aunt Debbie’s roasted veggies were awesome, and dessert was to die for.  Needless to say, this road trip was already shaping up to be amazing.

We woke up around 9:30 am on Sunday to continue our trek to San Francisco (I was told not to call it San Fran by my cousin, so I’ll be proper).  We said goodbye to everyone and were on our way, but not before stopping at our favorite Paso Coffee Shop, Amsterdam Coffee.  I’ve blogged about this place before so I’ll spare you the drooling details, but never-the-less, it’s amazing.  Please go there sometime.

San Francisco was rainy, gloomy, and utterly wonderful.  I always get a little scared when we’re driving the stick shift up those crazy streets, but Alex is always as cool as a cucumber.  We arrived at our frist hotel in the city and it was beautiful.  The concierge upgraded us to a suite in which we enjoyed room service and a movie; all while the rain poured outside.  We also made a late night trip to a local store for some late night ice-cream.  Then it was off bed with the sounds of the cars splashing below in the rain like preschool children.

Check back tomorrow for Part II – San Francisco and Napa Valley.

Happy Tuesday!

Monday, Monday…

January 25, 2010

Hello and Happy Monday!

I’m so sorry I left you all hanging at the end of last week.  I came down with Strep Throat when we got back and was completely out of commission through the weekend.  Some pretty fun things have been happening though so keep an eye out in the next few weeks for our first giveaway and some fun DIY.

I’ll be posting a recap tomorrow of our trip to San Francisco, Paso Robles, and Napa Valley for you to “oh” and “aw” over so check back and until then…

Get Inspired!

Out of Office Assistant

January 18, 2010

Happy Birthday to Me!

January 15, 2010

Happy Friday, Readers!

Today is my birthday.  I’m 24 and I don’t feel a day over 16.  I still swoon over cute boys on T.V., which makes my husband laugh.  I still love to have baking days with my girlies. I still love dressing up, painting my nails, and going to the movies with a hot date (with my husband, of course).  And I still just love being alive!

Thank you, Lord for 24 years.  Bring it on, 25!

DIY: Pastry Platters

January 14, 2010

Happy Thursday!

Now, I didn’t actually do this DIY, but I might have to.  Check out this awesome & thrifty DIY from Renee of Weddings and Cookies.

First off, Renee bought a bunch of candle sticks & plates from her local Goodwill.  She didn’t spend more than $6 on any item!

She then did the following steps to create this.

It can’t get more beautiful than that!

Here are the steps:

1. Wash & dry every piece.
2. To find the center of the plate – take a string and stretched it across the back. Fold it in half & marked it on the plate (a dry erase marker will wash right off). Repeat. Where all the marks intersect is the center of your plate.
3. Use E6000 glue, make sure you’re in a well-ventilated area & take breaks if you’re gluing a lot, & follow the directions on the glue container.
4. Let them dry (plate side down) for 24+ hrs.
5. Take the stand outside to spray paint.
6. Let dry for a couple hours.
Stunning. Get Inspired!

The Engagement Shirt

January 13, 2010

This morning while I was getting ready to leave I walked over to my hubby, gave him a big hug and asked,  “Honey, does this shirt look familiar??”

He replied, “Uhh, hmmmm… Let me see…”

Then, he got down on one knee and said, “Oh, now I remember.”

Come on, I have the sweetest hubby in the world and you know it.

Happy Wednesday!!

Girly & Modern Birthday Party

January 12, 2010

Happy Tuesday, Readers!

I’m starting to figure out my schedule more and hoping that I’ll still be able to blog once a day, but if I lag, I apologize in advance.  Plus, you’ll eventually benefit from my genius once I have that bachelor’s degree, so cut me some slack. Ha!

Anyway, I wanted to share with you an event that I was commissioned to put on over the break.  Normally I would should you the inspiration before the event, but given that this was a surprise event I wanted to ensure the utmost secrecy and show it to you all at once.

Karly came to me and wanted to plan a bright, modern and girly birthday party for her sister-in-law.  We met up and decided on a black and white scheme with a pop of color.  I went home and came up with this as the inspiration:

Happy Birthday, Kristin

Karly loved it.  We got yellow tissue, flowers, vases, plates, silverware, the whole bit and Karly made the cupcakes and cookies.  We only spent about $300 on decor which included the rental of the space and I’m pretty proud of the result.  Enjoy!

Happy Birthday, Kristin!
