Merry Christmas: RECAP

December 29, 2009

Hello Readers!

I hope you received my tweets regarding the lack of internet in the cabin; or lack there of.  I’m hoping that some pictures of our trip and a few DIY projects we did to decorate our tree will brighten your day and my lack of posting.  Enjoy!

Debbie and I made pop corn string and threaded it with red beads.  Then I went into town to get felt and made the star on the top of the tree. I just took up the felt and cut out a star, then copied the same star on another piece of felt.  I put the two pieces together and sewed them with some stark red thread; making sure to leave one end open to fit on the top of the tree.

If you don’t know, Alex and I were privileged to spend our Christmas in Big Bear with the whole Lopez clan.  It was quite fun.  We built a snowman, held up in the cabin watching movies, and went into town.  It truly was a White Christmas!

Then when we got back, Alex and I had my family over for an after Christmas dinner and opened up presents. That was also such a blast!

Merry Christmas! From our family to yours!!

CAS Christmas Celebration 2009

December 21, 2009

Happy Monday Readers!

Remember my post about the College of Arts and Science’s Christmas Celebration last year? Whelp, we had to top ourselves, so here’s a look at the decor from this year.  Enjoy!

Let’s start with the fireplace…  I wanted the office to have a homey feel so I brought pillows and blankets.  Amy, Sarah and I drew and put up the “fireplace” for people to congregate.

Each of us had our own stocking, complete with name labels from the office label maker.

You may recognize this reindeer from last christmas at my house… Alex didn’t think it was very grown up so I brought it to work.  But not to worry, everyone in the office loves the reindeer, especially Amy.

I cut out the “Merry Christmas” and then we placed them around the reindeer.  I cut out the little holly leaves and used them around the office.  I also set up tables and chairs around my office and people brought food to adorn it.

Then for added flare we hung christmas bulbs from the ceiling at varying heights.  It’s nothing compared to the registrar’s office (if you ever get a chance to go there during the Christmas season, you should), but we worked with what we got.

Whelp, that’s it!  Merry Office Christmas… Love, Me!

Marie’s Room Makeover

December 18, 2009

Hello and Happy Friday!

I know I promised you a post about Jeannemarie’s room this week so I’m here to deliver.  I took these photos with my iphone since the whole project was on a whim, but I hope you enjoy them none the less.

Jeannemarie is entering a truly grown up phase in her life and wanted her room to be a reflection of that.  She painted her walls a light grey, bought a cute black couch, some curtains and framed some pictures.  She really wanted to make a picture collage over her bed and organize her room; here comes ME to the rescue.  We had such a blast putting the room together so I thought you might appreciate seeing this inspired room.

Enjoy!

Ain’t she cute?!

Most of the photos on this wall were taken by Marie herself.  Others are just things that inspired her.

This is her vanity.  Gorgeous, right?!

And her cute little platform bed, complete with IKEA frame and monogrammed pillow.

Hope you enjoyed our little peek into Marie’s world.  Check out her blog for fun photos and little poems by Marie, herself.

A Small, Big Announcement

December 11, 2009

Okay, I know you’ve all been dying to hear what my big announcement is and I’m so excited to share it in full detail with you… on Monday!

But for now, I’ll give you a little background:

You all know my friend, Creswell.  She’s an amazingly talented photographer, great friend, and inspired person.  Well, did you know she also loves thrift store shopping, creating and repurposing? Well, she’s decided to put some of our skills to good use.  She’s adventured to starting an Etsy store and blog!  I can’t really give you all the details yet, but it’s been a project in the works since March of this year.  She’s so excited and having a blast finishing up the details for her big launch this Monday.  Keep an eye out if you follow me on Twitter or Facebook; and of course here!

Have a great weekend and get inspired!

Happy Friday!

Christmas Decorations Part IV

December 11, 2009

Okay I’ve decided to make three posts today, we’ll see how this goes.  One is this post about the bathroom, then check back today at 10:00 am for your Friday Foto.  Then check back at 12:00 pm for my special announcement (and no, I’m not prego).

Anywho, back to the bathroom.  Now, again… the bathroom is a work in progress so it’s really not finished in the least bit.  We have great plans for this room including a large mirror, possible double sinks, painting the claw tub and adding tile to two walls around the tub (we’ll see how much of it actually gets done in the next year; but at least we’re got a vision, right?).  Okay, so here’s a

BEFORE:

“AFTER” / CHRISTMASFIED:

First of all, my apologies for the towel on the floor.  The dog dragged it in there from his bed, guess he thought that the room just needed a little something to prove that we’re messy… sometimes.

Now, it’s it amazing what a few additions does to a room? I can’t wait to slap some paint on those walls and get everything in there as white and clean as possible; right now it’s kind of a cream-white.

For Christmas I did the beads and bulbs like in the kitchen and living room.  I also added a few touches like a gold pillar candle, some christmas bulbs and pine cone soaps.  Not much, but just enough to spread the Christmas cheer around.

Okay, so tell me, what did you do to decorate for Christmas?  Got a link to a photo or blogpost you want to share?  Add it to the comments section, I’d love to see what other ideas you’ve had.

Happy Christmas and Get Inspired!

Christmas Decorations Part III

December 10, 2009

On to the kitchen!  We haven’t done much to it, so it’s not much of a before an after, but here’s a few pictures anyway.

BEFORE:

“AFTER” / CHRISTMAFIED:

First of all, I apologize for the horrible lighting.  It was early this morning, but there wasn’t any light coming through the windows so I resorted to the nasty yellow lighting we have currently.  Anywho, about the decor.

We received a generous gift from my grandparents, a fridge.  I decorated it with fake poinsettia and pretty glass bottles I’ve collected from friends and family over the past two years.

We purchased out little espresso bar storage unit from IKEA and felt it was the perfect place to make and serve coffee to our guests.  We love that the smell of coffee brewing in the morning wafts through the house.

I didn’t go with anything new as far as Christmas decorations on here, just used some of our old items and repurposed them. So, for fun… just check out the decor and get inspired to recreate and re-purpose:

I mirrored the hanging bulbs and beads from the living room here as well.  And I purchased that funny little tree from the a thrift store with Creswell.  And I made thos napkins for Amber’s shower.

And here’s a quick shot of the counter decor.  I want you to remember this, because we are saying. “good-bye” to these hideous countertops… someday.

Whelp, that’s it.  I have some uber exciting news to share with you either later today or tomorrow, but until then…

Happy Christmas and Get Inspired!
