Virtue*

July 31, 2009

Calling all Ladies! Have you heard of the new Virtue for Women blog from Harvest.org? Snazzy new site by they way.  Great job, HARVEST DESIGN TEAM!

Ok, back to the point…

F_VirtueNewSite

Cathe Laurie, Greg Laurie’s wife – senior pastor at Harvest, has started her own blog for women who aspire to be virtuous.  She has tons of insight into the Word, great recipescrafts, and personal thoughts to share.  She really helps to break down the meaning of a virtuous woman and even has a study in Orange County every week on the subject.

I have been so privileged to talk to her about some of the ways she hopes Virtue will reach out, not only to the women of our church, but an even broader scope of women.  Cathe really has a heart for other women and a love for the Lord that is truly a testament.  You can check out her conversation with Greg about Virtue here.

Vintage Wedding Shoes

July 30, 2009

I am smitten over these shoes from Jordyn and Bradley’s wedding featured on Once Wed.  Jordyn really wanted to incorporate a lot of DIY Vintage items and these shoes were one of them.

Chelsea over at Oh My Deer Handmades, couldn’t take it anymore and just had to ask the bride if she made those cute little broaches herself.  Come to find out, she did!  She found some vintage clip on earrings and glued the guinea feathers to the back.  Then she just clipped them on to her cute flats for the wedding.

Ugh.  I’m dying here.  Does anyone else think these are so Anthropologie?

July 29, 2009

I’ve found a new blog to stalk and I just have to share it with you!  Eat. Drink. Chic is an inspired blog full of DIY ideas for parties, weddings, home decor, and so much more to be inspired by.  Amy Moss, the mother of this beauitful blog baby, is a graphic designer based in Australia, and boy, is she amazing.

Here are a few things I’ve found while poking around:

iPhone Mania

July 28, 2009

iphone3gs

So, it may appear that I am a bit behind the times, but I assure you, I’m not.  Alex and I have been craving the  iPhone for about 8 months now, but we were on a T-Mobile plan and the iPhone was so expensive.  Finally we resolved that when our phone plan was up in August, we would get iPhones.  Alex called T-Mobile yesterday to pay our last bill and they informed us that we had been on a month to month plan since April!  Needless to say, we were pretty bummed that we would have been able to quench this iPhone hunger much sooner.  However, we saw the upside because just last month Apple introduced a new phone, meaning Alex and I could get the newer ones for just as much as the old ones!

We headed down to the Victoria Gardens Apple store, having already started to on-line AT&T application to pick up our phones.  We arrived, waiting in line for about 5 minutes and had our precious iPhones in hand.  Then for the next 15 minutes, a iPhone tech walked us through transferring over our phones and minor set up; and that was it! A totally of 20 minutes later and we were AT&T/iPhone owners.

Wahoo!

Bun in the Oven

July 27, 2009

No, it’s not a bread recipe.  No, I’m not pregnant… but my dear friend Alicia over at “I Do, Now What” is and I couldn’t be more excited for her!

D&A

Just last month she posted about how her and her husband Dirk were “Preheating the Oven” and BAM, she’s prego and 9 weeks along now.  Which means, when she posted that blog post about getting ready for pregnancy, she was already two weeks into it!  Talk about timing.

So, here’s to you Dirk and Alicia and that new Dallas Baby, LOVE YOU ALL!

Young House Love

July 27, 2009

Happy Monday, Ya’ll!

Have I introduced you to Young House Love, yet?

headerbg_yhl1

Its a fabulous blog about about a couple who love their new home.  They talk through renovations, life experiences, have fab freebies, and are just plain cute.  Here’s an intro:

3759827177_d0a34b056b

“I’m Sherry Petersik. He’s my husband John. We’re 27. Our house is 53. It’s old enough to be our parent, but we treat it like it’s our baby.

It’s our first home, and it’s located in Richmond, Virginia. When we bought it in 2006, we were coming off of a combined 8-years of living in Manhattan. Having 1,350 sq. ft to play with seemed like quite a luxury. The only problem: the house definitely showed its age.

Armed with a little bit of know-how and a lot of enthusiasm, we didn’t waste a second gettin’ down to business. After three years the list of what we did is too long to bother with (a few highlights: installing a pedestal sink, two toilets, countless new light fixtures, knocking out a half wall, uncovering tile and hardwood under grody carpets, etc). Trust us when we say that it was certainly a lot of work, time, and satisfaction upon completion.

To date we’ve added a slew of new skills to our metaphorical toolbox (need help refinishing your cabinets?) and even some new equipment to our literal toolbox (drywall saw, anyone?). Our DIY prowess even carried over to our backyard wedding (it’s only fitting that we got married at home).

Somewhere along the way we even started helping other people transform their homes. And in June of 2008, we put my Bachelor of Fine Arts and John’s Communications degree to use and opened up our very own shop full of original and affordable prints for the masses. We’ve also been recruited to write a regular column in a national glossy mag: Better Homes & Garden’s Do It Yourself Magazine. We even managed to fit in an HGTV appearance when our bedroom was picked as an “inspiration room” on Rate My Space and we squeezed in a fun little house tour video for thenest.com.

Now it’s just a matter of finding enough hours in the day to keep up with our ever growing to-do list while keeping you posted along the way. We hope you enjoy our continued adventures (and misadventures) in DIY decor and home improvement. Stay tuned…” – Young House Love

Saturated Sale at Anthro

July 24, 2009

It’s an amazing one!  So many colors and a wide range of prices.  I even went and saw it before it was announced this week and needless to say, I bought something for myself; but I mostly purchased things for my Mom.  I walked away with 8 items for only $158, so I’d say it was a success.

Here are some other things from the ANTHRO sale that I’m dying to own:
